On the same day their sweeping Green New Deal ” – a proposal went to the Senate — with virtually all Democrats voting “present” – New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she would accept “happy”, a Republican Congressman, the offer of “go underground” tour and a Kentucky coal mine.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments came just days after she admitted in an interview with The New York Post that they only “baby-steps” to be more available to their own constituents in person, and invited interested third parties, follow her on Twitter in the meantime.

During a House Committee on Financial Services meeting on Tuesday in Washington, GOP Rep. Andy Barr Ocasio-Cortez proposed to come to his state and meet some of the mountain people face-to-face, and to know how the Green New Deal would also apply to you. Ocasio-Cortez replied that it would undertake “like”, according to several accounts of the episode.

Barr says his office sent a formal E-Mail invitation to Ocasio-Cortez-chief of staff Wednesday.


Barr has for the coal industry, while Ocasio-Cortez, the signature of the Green New Deal calls for the virtual elimination by the year 2030, the greenhouse gas emissions responsible for global warming. Republicans railed against the proposal, saying it would devastate increases the economy and trigger massive tax.

No senator voted to begin the debate on the legislation on Tuesday, while 57 lawmakers voted against breaking the filibuster. Democratic Sens. Doug Jones of Alabama, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema from Arizona came to 53 Republicans in voting “no”. Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, the group meetings of the Democrats, voted “no”.

The vote had stressed that Senate majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in an attempt of Democratic senators-including several of the 2020 presidential candidates — go on the record about the measure. McConnell had called the proposal “a radical, top-down, socialist redesign of the entire U.S. economy.”

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, the so-called Green New Deal “ridiculous” and pictures of dinosaurs, cartoon characters and babies in the Senate. He said he was the treatment of the plan “with the seriousness it deserves.”

Ocasio-Cortez, has warned that the world can be destroyed in 12 years because of climate change, unlesss immediate measures are not taken, the later said that she had instructed the senators to vote “present” on your own resolution.


For its part, the White house has said it does not take Ocasio-Cortez, or your reliance on the United Nations forecasts that is especially serious. In 1989, warned the United Nations that the world had only 10 years catastrophic climate change is to be avoided. Back in 2006, a NASA scientist and the leading global warming researchers explained that the world has just 10 years to avert a climate catastrophe.

Both deadlines have passed.
