The officers rescued the man, who then told me that he had been kidnapped three days before by four men on a Bronx street corner, police said.

The victim, who sources said has had a long arrest record, he said the suspects forced him into a vehicle in the area of East 234 Street and White Plains Road in Wakefield, at around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, police said.

Then they drove back to the deli, they brought him down to the basement, beat him, and get him tied to a pole, he told police.

The police have arrested the owner of the sandwich shop, the 49-year-old Orinthia Gifford, and charged her with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment for her role in the caper, authorities said.

Gifford is a 26-year-old daughter, who does not give her name, said as of Wednesday evening, she was shocked to learn of her mother’s abduction and arrest, only to discover her mother’s involvement with “the return.”

“I know that they have been caught might have something to do with the number of cases. They chased them, and I think that’s because she’s the owner, and they took it,” she said.

The police believe the missing man and knew all of the suspects, who kidnapped him, authorities said. They were investigating if the abduction was connected to a drug-trafficking operation, the sources said.

The researchers identified the store employee, who leaves the police department is in the basement as a 35-year-old Richard Millwood. He is wanted in connection with the kidnapping.

He is approximately 5-feet-10 and 200 pounds and was last seen wearing all black, police said.
