Nyck de Vries sixth in the first Formula 2 race of 2019 in Bahrain

Nyck de Vries is on Saturday in the first race of the Formula 2 season outside the podium finished. The Dutchman of ART Grand Prix finished sixth at the hoofdrace in Bahrain, which was won by the Canadian Nicholas Russell.

The 24-year-old De Vries started from the third position and drove halfway even in the lead in Bahrain, but he fell in the lead on older tires back in the ranking and finished disappointing sixth.

Russell reed onbedreigd to the victory on the Bahrain International Circuit, for the Italian Luca Ghiotto (second) and the Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara (third). Mick Schumacher, the son of the sevenfold world champion in Formula 1 Michael Schumacher, finished eighth.

The first Formula 2 race of the season was also in the character of Tatiana CalderĆ³n. The Colombian is the first woman ever to be released on the second level of the sport and came in her debut as thirteenth over the finish line.

Also Formula 1 perched in Bahrain

De Vries ended the previous Formula 2 season at the fourth place in the CHAMPIONSHIP mode, but thanks to the departure of Alexander Albon, George Russell and Lando Norris to the Formula 1 this time there are more opportunities for the Fries, who is working on his third year on the second level.

Sunday is still the sprintrace on the program in Bahrain, where fifteen points are for the WK-mode. Schumacher, who next week on behalf of Ferrari and Alfa Romeo will be testing in Formula 1, thanks to his eighth place in the hoofdrace of poleposition start. The Formula 2 season will be april 28, continued with the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan.

This weekend is also in the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Bahrain on the program. Saturday will be the third free practice and the qualifying finished, and then Sunday the race at 16.10 hours begins.
