Number of schaamlipcorrecties worldwide has greatly increased
The number of schaamlipcorrecties is internationally greatly increased. In the Netherlands, would not be a clear increase of this type of surgery, although cosmetic surgery is generally popular.
In 2016 the number of schaamlipcorrecties worldwide 45 percent compared to a year earlier. It is the fastest growing type of cosmetic surgery. That reports the Independent Wednesday. The newspaper bases its message on a study of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
It goes specifically to a reduction of the inner labia. For the study of 35,000 doctors questioned in 106 countries. The breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic procedure, followed by liposuction, eyelid lift and rhinoplasty.
“In the Netherlands we don’t see the explosive growth of the number of schaamlipcorrecties,” says Ali Pirayesh, a board member of the Dutch Association of Plastic Surgeons and chairman of the Dutch Association for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, against NU.nl. “But we see an increase in the number of lichaamscorrecties in general, among other things, by the influence of social media.”
Pirayesh mentions another possible reason for the increase in the number of vaginal operations. “The last years we have seen the trend that more and more women have their vaginal area to remove hair. Therefore, the women suddenly stand out more how they “integrated” look.”
He wants the operations for the right reasons. “We make patients who have surgery consider first clear that vaginas varied – perfect symmetry does not exist.”
Also see Pirayesh a new, out of the United States music trend: vaginaverjonging. This is also the vagina itself next to the labia. “There are easier complications involved, so we are somewhat reluctant and ask us always whether someone would benefit from them.”
In addition, warns Pirayesh interested parties: “We see that these operations also be carried out by basisartsen who consider themselves ‘cosmetic doctor’. That is a worrisome situation, because they are able to their services, while cheaper to offer but they do not have adequate surgical training.”
Therefore, he advises: “make sure you are with a real plastic surgeon to have. Consider: if you are in your late cutting and something goes wrong it can often not be undone.”
