Number of donors in 2016 dropped
The number of people that after death, organs or tissue has provided for transplant last year. In total 235 people, thirty less compared to the previous year.
That made the Dutch Transplant Foundation (NTS) Monday known. According to NTS, there were, in 2016, much less the deceased is medically suitable organs for transplantation.
Of 7.684 deceased in Dutch hospitals there were only 883 is suitable to donate. In 2015 were still 970 of 7.833 deceased.
Also gave relatives more often, no consent for donation. What is striking is the foundation that survivors are also more likely to be a donation blocked while the deceased with consent in the donorregister was.
The number of niertransplantaties with a kidney from a living donor last year rose 11 percent to 574.
