Number of deaths by colon cancer increased
The number of people that died of colon cancer increases. That is due to population growth and ageing.
It reports the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) on Friday.
In 2015 death of 5200 people in the Netherlands, colorectal cancer, 2.800 men and 2,400 women. The year before, there were 5.000. In men is colon cancer after lung cancer the most common kankerdoodsoorzaak. In women, colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of death by cancer, after lung cancer and breast cancer.
Most people who have cancer die are sixty years of age or older and of those half are at least 75 years.
To the new population screening for bowel cancer among the over-55s did last year, 73 percent of the approached.
