The number of children in care has remained high, while in the Netherlands the youth, however, is a happy man. There is something wrong in the upbringing? And how do we prevent a further increase?
One in ten of the young people was given in 2018 and beyond to do with childcare, according to new figures from the Dutch Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS). Here are eight thousands of young people for more than a year in 2017.
This increase is not a new phenomenon, ” explains Tom van Yperen, an expert in Jeugdstelsel in the Netherlands and ukraine from. “Between 2000 and 2009 saw a doubling in the number of children in the welfare system.” In the last few years, which put the increase to a lesser extent. “However, there are a lot of people.”
To youth both in the youth, protection of children, as the jeugdreclassering for young people up to 23 years of age.
A large number of single-parent families, and divorce
The Studies do not point directly to one reason for the increase in numbers, there has been a combination of things. “One of the reasons seems to lie in the upbringing and education of children. Thus, there is a greater number of single-parent families and (the battle)-keep.”
“To be a difficult or a busy child and is very fast for a behavioral problem”
Tom van Yperen, an expert in Jeugdstelsel in the Netherlands and ukraine
In addition to experiencing young people, and children have a lot of competition around in their school work and study is, according to Van Yperen. “But, in spite of the youth, it is not so much worse as a result. Therefore, we suspect that it is due to the different problems and risks to face.” We criticise the behaviour quickly and have the tendency to ask for help, says Van Yperen.
“To be a difficult or a busy child and is very fast with a behavioral problem. We are usually gedragslabels going to give it to, which is an integral part of our culture and way of working.” We keep a little account of the fact that a lot of the problems go away, or we grow up with.
It can be compared to the doctor’s office, says Van Yperen out. “If you come here with a stomach ache, he or she is, you just have to look at it because it’s naturally the way to go. To do that we have little to do with the most common problems of infants and children.”
Some examples of common problems affecting children and young people

Margrite Kalverboer, Kinderombudsman
“Our opvoedstijl through the years it has changed to a more democratic version, which, together with the children will be discussed and debated. That means that many of the children are very happy in their home environment,” says Van Yperen.
One in ten children in their life to be inadequate, especially for children older than twelve. The research has shown that children who are with the youth to make their lives a 6.4 in display.

Childcare is more accessible, has become
Another cause of the growth, it is possible that the manner in which the care is furnished. In the period 2000-2009, including the Youth care Agency established and the sector more accessible. “Then, of course, there is also a greater use be made of it.”
Since the municipalities in 2015, which are responsible for child welfare, running everything in to the laagdrempeligheid.
A third reason is that the knowledge is there, it is not always used to answer questions about growing up and parenting, to answer, ” says Van Yperen.
Examples of the practice questions from parents at a very early stage, it may be answered, such as social workers at the school of music and the doctor are sitting. “It does more help than that would be superfluous.”
The expert stressed that, of course, there are also a group of people with a serious problem, which is directly dependent on intensive care. “But, nevertheless, it should also pay more attention to the fact that many of the children to be happy, and that’s a lot of issues, quite simply.”
Any Tips for those who are in doubt
For parents who are struggling to cope with the upbringing of a child, as did Van Yperen, however, a lot of tips. “There is a lot of information that can be found online. You’ll not out the question, look to you for advice on a school, a tutor at the school, or a member of a team.” If anything, then, be possible, however, additional steps are required.
Bringing up children is a matter of learning by trial and error, will Van Yperen stress. “Don’t be, if you have any questions, and talk about it with other parents. They are often willing to take part or help out.”
