A 68-year-old North Dakota man is accused of yelling profanities and throwing rocks in to a group of children, in retaliation for being hit with a snowball before pushing it to a 9-year-old man in a truck, smashing his face into the ground, according to a new report.
Douglas was a resident of Gordon Van Hassel, 68, has been charged with the crime of aggravated assault of a victim under the age of 12 years, the Grand Forks Herald reported Monday.
Gordon From Hassell is accused of sending a 9-year-old boy to the hospital, so-called, throwing a snowball at him.

According to the indictment, Van Hassel was walking with his dog through a group of children in a snowball fight, and when he was, apparently, not been touched.
Van Hassel later claimed that the kids were harassing him, so that he pursued after them, catching them in the 9-year-old, who he allegedly pushed to the ground and repeatedly kicked him, KFYR-TV reported.

The boy later told authorities that he was afraid for his life, and is handed out during the attack, according to the affidavit. An adult has allegedly committed the boy to the house on a sleigh ride before, and he was taken to a hospital in Minot.

The attack left him in pain and not being able to walk on his left leg, according to a Ward County Sheriff’s deputy.
Van Hassel was taken to the Ward County jail. He was scheduled to appear in court for the action on Thursday. He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced by the court.
