Nine demonstrators for democracy in China condemned
The Chinese court sentenced the protesters to penalties of up to ten years in prison for illegal protesting.
The protesters come from Wukan, a fishing village in the south of China. In this village were made by the Chinese government in 2011, the direct local election was allowed, after protests against imposed landverdelingen.
It was since June already restless in the village after a popular local leader was arrested. This man was in October sentenced for corruption. The indictment against the man was in Wukan controversial.
