Nils Verkooijen wants youth classical music to teach
Actor Nils Verkooijen will a large theater-show organise in which classical music and young people play a leading role.
The project Verkooijen, known from films as Achtstegroepers don’t cry and Kneel on a bed of violins, his own generation to show that classical music anything but boring.
The concert must be on 1 april 2017 to take place in the large hall of the Philharmonie in Haarlem.
“I have 12 years of violin played, and am therefore grew up with Bach and Mozart,” says the actor. “The power and the theatrical power of the classical genre is something that many young people do not know and, therefore, is exactly the one that we want to engage with.”
The auditions for the one-time execution are this week’s open. Teenagers between 12 and 20 who are interested can sign up via the website Klassiekvandetoekomst.nl. She organizes the project in cooperation with the Foundation On the Dot. The concert is a successor of the Dot, a major nationwide talent competition for young people who have a classical instrument to play.
The auditions to find at the end of november to place in a number of large cities such as Amsterdam, Leiden, Utrecht and Haarlem. The organizers put in on an orchestra of eighty young people from all parts of the Netherlands. The concert should be a spectacle of visual effects, film and dance play a large role. The project is directed by international theatre director Carlos Garcia Estevez and conductor-Annelies Smit.
