Michael D. Cohen is embracing who he really is.
The Nickelodeon actor already on the show, “Henry Danger” since 2014, opened up about how he made the transition from woman to man nearly 20 years ago.
The 43-year-old revealed that he was “misgendered at birth.”
CHARLIZE THERON REVEALS HER DAUGHTER, 7, IS TRANSGENDER
“I identify as a man, and I am proud that I have had a transgender experience — a transgender journey,” he said in Time magazine. “It is not random, is not random, it is not chosen. It is like trying to negotiate with gravity.”
Cohen clarified that, even though he is changed by means of medical procedures and therapy, he does not like labels. “I’ve worked so hard to get to the truth, and I have taken on the labels in the past, not in the sense where, for convenience, at that time,” he explained.
The TV star is talking about his experience now, because he wants to lead by example and hopefully help a child who is struggling with his or her sexual identity.
“What it does is send a message to kids that who they are, but they identify, that is celebrated and valued and OK,” Cohen said. “If I tell my truth, that gives other people permission to also tell them.”

“This crazy resistance and suppression of the rights is happening right in front of me. I can not remain silent. The level of — let’s be polite — misunderstanding around trans issues so deep and so destructive. When you disempower a population, you disempower everyone,” he added.
Cohen also posted on the social media and expressed his gratitude for those who have embraced him. He also thanked his Nickelodeon family and fans.
“I am so grateful to be able to share my story,” he wrote. “I hope that by sharing this part of my journey through life will help people of trans experience of ALL ages feel seen and less alone. I am here with you.”
