Shortly after his arrival on Monday in California, democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom dug up an unprecedented new health agenda for his state, offers significantly more benefits for illegal immigrants and the protection of the embattled Affordable Care Act, which a Federal judge recently proposed as unconstitutional.
The sweeping proposal seemed doomed to push a California-already one of the nation’s most liberal States-further to the left, as progressive Democrats, there will be a veto-proof two-thirds majority in the Landtag, in November and control of all statewide offices.
“The life of the people, freedom, safety, the water we drink, the air we breathe — they all hang in the balance,” Newsom, 51, told supporters on Monday in a tent outside the state Capitol building, as he is about his plans to the problems of homelessness, criminal justice, and the environment. “The country is watching us, the world is watching us. The future depends on us, and we seize this moment.”
Newsom unveiled his new health-care-plan-hour protest after a protester interrupted his swearing-in ceremony, the killing of police Cpl. Ronil Singh shortly after Christmas. The suspects in Singh’s killing is an illegal immigrant with several prior arrests, and the Republicans have calculated that the so-called “sanctuary state” policy, as Newsom has championed, contributed to the murder not to allow the police to cooperate with Federal immigration officials.

As his first order of business, Newsom-who also claimed on Monday that the trump-management cooperation in state efforts to transition to a single-payer system-declares his intention for re-introduction of the ObamaCare individual mandate at the state level.

The mandate forces individuals to buy health insurance or pay a fee, which is described by the Supreme court, had in 2012 as a “tax”, but as “punishment” , in conflict, Congress ” rule under the Commerce clause of the Constitution. “For the past eight years, California has built a Foundation of rock,” Newsom. “Our task now is not to rest on this basis. It is, and build our house.”
Newsom added that California does not have “a home for the rich and one for the poor, or for the locals and one for the rest.”

In a statement, the California Immigrant Policy Center, Newsom supports are on the agenda.
“In order for the health care affordable and accessible for every Californian, including undocumented community members, which the Federal government has unjustly excluded, of care, is essential in order to achieve that vision for our future,” the organization said. “Today’s announcement is a historic step on the path in the direction of health, justice for all.”

Several Newsom’s recent hires have signalled that he is serious about his push to universal health care in California. Chief of Staff Ann O’leary worked in former President Bill Clinton administration on the children’s health Insurance Program (CHIP) offers affordable health care for children in families that buy you, exceed the financial threshold to qualify for Medicaid, but too poor, the private insurance companies.
And, the Cabinet chief Ana Matosantos, who worked the work in the administrations of Brown and former GOP Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, has intensively implement ObamaCare in California, and also worked with the legislature to expand health insurance for low-income Californians.
