Cynthia Nixon was often in the press than to try in New York, the first lesbian Governor-but the actress-turned-politician who does not actually self-identify as lesbian, rather than to consider themselves as queer, according to campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt.
In an interview with the New York Daily News, Hitt noted that the frequent descriptions of Nixon as a lesbian is wrong, but declined to further discuss why Nixon identifies as queer and not as lesbian or bisexual.
“It’s personal,” Hitt said of the choice.

Nixon, who rose to fame on HBO’s “Sex and the City” and who is now against incumbent democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo before the Sept. 13 primaries, is married with LGBTQ lawyer and political consultant Christine Marinoni. The couple has a child, and Nixon also has two children with her ex-husband Danny Mozes.
For decades the term queer has been used derisively to attack people that are not heterosexual, but in recent years has the word “reclaimed” by many in the LGBTQ community. The term is now people, not necessarily the feeling, you fall under a special name and in other cases, to mark fluid gender identities.
“The term for a kind of freedom and acceptance, allow room for individuality and recognises that each person’s sexuality and identity, distinguishable from each other”, pro-gay rights group PFLAG (parents, families and friends of lesbians and Gays), says on its website.
Hitt, the New York Daily News not told that Nixon is the gender identity of the liquid, and the politician identified only as a woman.
LGBTQ rights are one of the benchmarks of the Nixon gubernatorial campaign because you promised me, a pro-LGBTQ agenda in Albany when he was elected, including passing a law, the prohibition of discrimination against those who are transgender.

While Nixon has the support of some prominent groups won within the community, Cuomo – who pushed successfully for the legalization of same-sex marriage, and under an executive order signed prohibits insurance companies from covering gay conversation therapy, the support of many LGBTQ groups and leaders.
The Stonewall Democrats, the Empire State, the largest LGBTQ Democratic club, expressed his support for Cuomo in July.
“With the Governor of the attitudes over the years [on gay marriage] and the people on his staff have always asked questions, ‘How can we help, what can we do,” says club President Rod Townsend of the New York Post told. “Our membership is.”
Nixon and Cuomo met last week for their only planned debate in a petulant, one-hour exchange at Hofstra University, which featured a lot of interruptions and insults. But none of the candidates ended up the political equivalent of a knockout blow probably significantly changed the race.
Polls suggest Cuomo has a more than 30 percentage points ahead of Nixon, who also trails significantly in fundraising.
The democratic primary winner faces Republican Marc Molinaro, Green party candidate Howie Hawkins and independent Stephanie miner in November. Registered Democrats than Republicans in New York by more than 2-1.
