A woman was killed and three others were critically injured after a boat crash in New York city, police said, adding that the driver is charged with operating the boat while intoxicated.
Frank Distefano, 48, of Long Island, new york, new york, on the boat, was arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated, according to a news release from the Southold Town Police Department.

Police said the 39-foot vessel hit a wood shot is about 50 yards west of the entrance to James Creek. The crash happened at about 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, the researchers added.
Southold Police said they were dispatched to a home in Mattituck, n.y., after a 39-foot motor boat collided with a bulkhead.
Of the four people on board sustained serious injuries as a result of the impact, according to the press release, which added that the two victims were airlifted to an area hospital, and the other two were transferred to another hospital by an ambulance.
One of the people who were injured in the crash, Kelley Blanchard, 27, of Long Island, new york, was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

As the boat was leaving the bay and entering the creek to get a shot at a high speed, the tv station reported.
Blanchard, the 29-year-old Megan Blanchard, DiStefano, and the 41-year-old Nick Soullas, were on board at the time of the crash, the news release said. Megan Blanchard, was said to have been Captain Blanchard’s older sister. The survivors remain in a serious condition, according to WABC-TV.
Captain Blanchard had said DiStefano, former staff member on the Suffolk County restaurant.
As the recreational boating season has mainly ended, DiStefano had been entered into for the sale of his boat and wanted it to be for the last time, the tv station reported.
The investigation is ongoing.

DiStefano was released on an appearance ticket and will be arraigned in Southold Town Justice Court later this month, Patch reported that police said more charges are expected.
