New version of the musical Urinetown does not go through
A new Dutch version of the hitmusical Urinetown is there anyway not. After three repetitieweken it is decided that the power plug from the project to withdraw because of disappointing ticket sales and lack of financial security.
That has producer Joint Venture Productions announced.
The decision to stop is “very disappointing for all parties involved”, says Marcel Woudsma, owner of Joint Venture. “We are unable to provide sufficient promotion for the show to make resulting in a disappointing pre-sales. This is coupled with financial uncertainty for the future made us decide to bring the show to cancel.”
For the new version of Urinetown, which from the 15th of september in the theaters, were among more actors Linda Malaga, Jeffrey Italiaander and Filip Bolluyt snared. They are Tuesday, along with the rest of the cast and the production is informed about the end. Visitors who had bought tickets get their money back.
Urinetown was in 2009 in the Netherlands by M-Lab, then with René van Kooten, Jamai Loman and Noortje Herlaar in the lead roles. The satirical musical tells the story of a gray town where water is scarce and privétoiletten are prohibited. A group of residents is in rebellion as the evil company that wcs operates sky-high admission fees ask.
