New Hampshire stand-off ends after 2 found dead in a hotel room, man killed by police

Two people were found dead in a hotel room and one man was shot and killed by police in a 15-hour stand-off in a New Hampshire hotel that ended Thursday morning, the officials said.

Manchester Police Department said on Twitter the conflict at the Quality Inn ended at 10:30 a.m. as authorities having regard to the placing of a person on a stretcher from the hotel is located near Interstate 293.

When the authorities finally got access to the first floor of a hotel room, they found two people dead inside, Boston 25 reported. The police told the tv station, the people inside had fired several shots from the room through the night.

The incident began around 7:30 am on Wednesday, when a man with a gun “working” with the police and the Drug Enforcement Administration agents outside the Quality Inn, according to the officials.

Stephen Marshall, 51, of Manchester, later died of gunshot wounds, Manchester Police Chief Carlo Capano told reporters.

Capano, said Manchester police officers were “attacked” as the two barricaded in the hotel room to stay out of the fire of the room after making contact with the officers. At one point, SWAT team members deployed chemical agents in the room.

“It is something that we can’t tolerate. It is something that we will not tolerate,” he said.

Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati said a Manchester police officer and a DEA agent both fired their weapons in the first confrontation with Marshall.

The authorities have still not designated the law enforcement officials involved in the shooting, Capano said during the press conference, their names are “retained in anticipation of their conversations.”

The incident took place near the Interstate 293 in a busy area with a shopping mall. The police evacuated the hotel and a restaurant in the vicinity during the shooting and stand-off.

The police has no further information about the shooting. A press conference is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
