It is not self-evident: North Korea move to shooting. Still, the Magnum photographer Carl De Keyzer unlimited access to the private land. The photos he collected in the book of D. P. R. Korea Grand Tour. From december 9, the images will be on display in the citadel park in Ghent.
Few countries are as difficult to photograph as North Korea. Take pictures, there must be only under strict guidelines. Yet we still managed Magnum-photographer Carl De Keyzer to an unlimited access to the private land.
De Keyzer, drew sixty days around the mysterious and complex country on the brink of a nuclear war. He was given the opportunity to take pictures of places that never previously photographed may be. He selected 250 images of marches, in the classroom, at the shooting range, in the subway, in people’s homes and of people who have fun in an amusement park for the book of D. P. R. Korea Grand Tour, published by Lannoo.
From 9 december to 2 april, the pictures will be exhibited in the Floralies Hall in the citadel park in Ghent.
