Netherlands chamber Choir celebrates the 80th birthday of composer Philip Glass
The American composer Philip Glass is January 31, eighty years and that is also in the Netherlands is celebrated. The Nederlands Kamerkoor and conductor Peter Dijkstra from 25 January with the program Philip Glass 80.
Philip Glass is regarded as the father of minimal music, but did very different things, a minimalist opera to music for the Olympic Games to traditional instrumented work.
The concert of the chamber Choir is not only in Amsterdam, but also in Enschede, Tilburg and Groningen. There are still plenty of other events on the program. There is also a Facebook page dedicated to it.
Glass has worked with many different artists, of the Indian sitarvirtuoos Ravi Shankar, a major influence on him was, to David Bowie and Paul Simon. His participation in films has earned him multiple Oscar nominations, such as his composition for Kundun, the film about the fourteenth dalai lama of Tibet.
