A neighbor convicted of violently attacking U.S. Sen. Rand Paul outside of the Senator from Kentucky house last year, is planned to be sentenced in a US Federal court on Friday.

The attack left the Republican legislators with six broken ribs. His recovery was complicated by fluid and blood in the lungs and recurrent pneumonias.

Rene Boucher, 59, pleaded guilty in March to a Federal charge of a member of Congress. Boucher has asked for probation, but prosecutors said they will try a 21-month prison sentence.

The senator told the police that the incident occurred, as “the neighbor came on his property and fight him from behind and forcing him to the ground and cause the pain.”

The incident comes from Boucher excited over piles of brush on Paul’s property. The neighbor allegedly the thing took pay in his own hands and trash cans to haul the pile and light it on fire, in the yard to destroy them.

Boucher, Paul with his lawn mower claims – on the same day as the attack and blew some leaves on to his property and solve his indignation.

The New York Times initially reported that the attack came after a long-run landscaping disagreement.

But the senator ‘s office corrected Boucher’s account, and the times report in a statement this week, saying that before Paul was “violently assaulted, from behind, he had no conversations or discussions with the attackers.”
