Nebraska, a woman with a concealed-carry permit, was arrested on assault charges after shooting fleeing shoplifting suspect

A Nebraska woman was arrested and charged with first-degree assault Friday after police say she took a flight, shop-lifting suspect in the arm earlier this month.

The researchers say that, Shelby Jones, 38, was shopping in a supermarket, early August. 1 Tilian Tilian, 22, allegedly tried to shoplift two bottles of liquor.

Police chief Jeff Bliemeister said the store’s clerk attempted to restrain Tilian, and the two had an argument.

Bliemeister, added that he saw the struggle, pulled out her pistol, and positioned himself between Tilian and the output terminal.

“During the physical altercation, Tilian broke free and ran past Jones, exit the store,” Bliemeister said.

He said Jones then shot Tilian is in the back of the arm, and the lack of a shop assistant who was walking out at the same time.

“After conducting interviews, reviewing video surveillance and gathering of forensic evidence, the researchers concluded Tilian was on the run in to the house, and when he was told by Jones,” Bliemeister said.

Tilian was being treated at a hospital and released. KETV reported that police anticipate charging him.

The police said Tilian and had a bottle of liquor in his hand when he was shot, in The Omaha World-Herald reported.
