NBA legend Yao Ming, who in the past created a furore at Houston Rockets, Thursday chosen as the new chairman of the Chinese basketbalbond.
Ming (36), the first president of the association who are not from the government comes. He played nine seasons for the Rockets and was the first successful Chinese basketball player in the NBA.
The 2.29-metre-long former center was last year included in the Hall of Fame. A foot injury forced Ming in 2011 to the end of his active career.
In the same year he had before his comeback, made by the Rockets, but his physical condition was the return of short duration. He was there since 2002, under contract with the team from the NBA.
As the owner of the Shanghai Sharks is Ming since 2009 is already a defining figure in Chinese basketball. As the new chairman of the bond, he can exercise great influence over the professionalization of basketball in China.
