Data from NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope has given scientists the first glimpse of the conditions on the surface of a rocky extrasolar planet outside our solar system.

Planet of LHS 3844b is 48.6 light-years from Earth and has a radius of 1.3 times that of the Earth, according to NASA. The exo-planet around a small star called an M dwarf, and was first spotted by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Satellite Survey (TESS) in 2018.

The use of a light-year measures distance in space is equal to 6 trillion miles.

A new study finds that a mysterious planet and that the surface they seem to be on the Moon or a Planet, NASA said in a statement released on Monday. “The planet probably has no atmosphere and could be covered in the same cold, volcanic material that is in the darker areas of the surface of the Moon, “mare explained.

The infra-red Spitzer space telescope was able to detect the light from the surface of the LHS 3844b. “The planet makes a complete orbit around its parent star in just 11 hours,” NASA said in a statement. “With such a tight track, LHS 3844b, it is most likely to be ‘tidally locked,’ which is when one side of the planet permanently facing the star. The star-facing side, or dayside, it is about 1,410 ° F (770 ° c).”

The study was published in the journal Nature.

“We have a lot of theories about how planetary atmospheres, the rate is around M dwarfs, but we still haven’t been able to get them to study the ritual,” said Laura Kreidberg, of the study’s lead author and a research scientist at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass., the explanation for this. “Now, with the LHS 3844b, we have a terrestrial planet outside of our solar system, where, for the first time, we can determine observationally, the atmosphere is non-existent.”

SHE found the planet using what is referred to as the “transit method, in which use is made of the dimming of the parent star to identify transits of each of the objects in orbit around it.

The Spitzer Space Telescope, studying the face of the planet’s reflectiveness. “LHS 3844b seems to be the smallest planet for which scientists have made use of the light coming from the surface to the atmosphere (or lack of it),” said NASA in a statement.

The planet is probably covered by basalt, or volcanic rock.

In 2017, NASA announced the discovery of seven earth-like planets in orbit around the star SPECIALE-1, and is nearly 40 light-years away from Earth.

In a separate project, which is a black hole swallowing a neutron star, has likely been detected for the first time, according to the researchers.
