Data from NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope has given scientists the first glimpse of the conditions on the surface of a rocky extrasolar planet outside our solar system.
Planet of LHS 3844b is 48.6 light-years from Earth and has a radius of 1.3 times that of the Earth, according to NASA. The exo-planet around a small star called an M dwarf, and was first spotted by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Satellite Survey (TESS) in 2018.
The use of a light-year measures distance in space is equal to 6 trillion miles.
