Musical Sweeney Todd is on tour through the Netherlands
The Dutch version of the musical Sweeney Todd comes in from september to november on tour.
The show, starring René van Kooten and Vera Mann went the last summer to full houses in Amsterdam. Therefore, could a national tour is not inevitable, made producer Stichting Zonnehuis Theatre Friday known.
The story tells about a wrongfully convicted barber (Van Kooten) who want to, to revenge, and his kooky neighbor Lovett (Mann), the owner of a slechtlopende bakkerswinkel. In their remarkable collaboration, they fill each other perfectly: he murders his customers and they processed the bodies into tasty patties.
The musical by composer Stephen Sondheim was in the U.S. awarded eight Tony Awards. The show was in the Netherlands mainly known thanks to the film adaptation of director Tim Burton, with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in the lead roles. The Dutch translation and the director is Koen van Dijk, Marco Braam is musical director.
The presentation was by the national newspapers, overloaded with stars, and both Vera Mann, Marjolein Teepen, which has an important role to play, received a Musical Award. Foundation House Theatre brings this summer a new Dutch version of the musical The Bridges or Madison County is on the shelves.
