Nowhere Boy, the movie from 2009 about the younger years of John Lennon, is the inspiration for a new musical.
The story goes according to Deadline, about the time that Lennon was part of The Quarry Men, the band that he produced in 1956 at the age of sixteen founded and was later supplemented by Paul McCartney and George Harrison. They were later joined by Lennon and Ringo Starr of The Beatles.
There are also in the musical big roles to play for Julia Lennon, the mother of the death in 1980 a musician, and his aunt Mimi Smith, who had the care of her nephew took upon himself when Julia died in a car accident.
According to the producers of the musical is the show, that sometime in the next few years will premiere in the United Kingdom, a “play with music”. There will be no songs by The Beatles to hear, but songs that are also in the film Nowhere Boy used to be, as I Put a Spell on You by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.
Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono is aware of the arrival of the project, but will not be involved.
