MRSA in Scheper Hospital Emmen
Four patients and a staff member of the Scheper Hospital in Emmen, the netherlands are infected with the MRSA bacterium. To further spread to occur, people who are in contact with them have been checked on the ‘hospital bug’.
That made the Treant Zorggroep, where the hospital is part of Friday known.
In the department where the bacterium was discovered, at the moment no new patients included.
An infection with MRSA (Meticilline Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) is dangerous for people with quite reduced resistance. It can lead to pneumonia or blood poisoning. The bacterium is resistant to conventional antibiotics. MRSA is for healthy people harmless, they are also not sick of it.
