Mourinho takes ‘reserves’ in protection after loss of The Cockpit
Manchester United manager José Mourinho took his squad in protection after the defeat Thursday night against Feyenoord (1-0), because a number of his players for the first time this season in action.
“The reality is that some players their first minutes of the season made,” said Mourinho after the champions League duel in The Cockpit. “Of course, played some better than others, but I can’t condemn on the basis of one match.”
The Portuguese brought no less than eight changes in his basiselftal in comparison with the Premier League winner against Manchester City (1-2 defeat) last weekend.
Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Wayne Rooney travelled all the way not to Rotterdam, while, among others, Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the bench began.
“It is clear that we, for example, Valencia and Shaw in Manchester have left so that they are fresh for the match of Sunday against Watford,” said Mourinho. “Then we return to a normal team, with, of course, not much changes.”

United lost the first European duel of the season by a hit of Tonny Vilhena in the 79th minute. According to Mourinho it was clear to see that the Club with his hard basisploeg played.
“I can’t be the same intensity, sharpness and speed of thought to expect from my players in comparison with the players of Feyenoord, because they have been six games played and still in the same composition.”
“I could not expect a lot more of two or three of my boys who is only in their first match played.”
Mourinho stressed that he is not worried after the second defeat in a row of his team.
“When we have the Super Cup and three Premier League matches won, I was also not in the seventh heaven. We don’t have great played in the last two duels, but we had earned more than two defeats.”
