Mourinho: ‘Recordtransfer Neymar has everything turned upside thrown
Manchester United manager José Mourinho feels that the transfer market is rigorously changed after the transfer of Neymar from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for a staggering 222 million euros.
“Everyone is looking now to the two hundred million pounds of Neymar,” said Mourinho on Wednesday in an interview with The Times.
“The players that first twenty million pounds of cost, are now, suddenly, forty million pounds worth. And for the players of forty million pounds, you pay now sixty million pounds. Because we are already at the beginning of the summer, our things were, were the amounts are lower.”
Mourinho called Romelu Lukaku as an example. United took the Belgian striker in July for 75 million pounds (85 million euros) from Everton, but that amount was, according to the Portuguese trainer is much higher if both parties in a later stage of the negotiations had to be seated.
“On the 31st of August we had for Romelu Lukaku certainly 150 million pounds (164 million euros) have to pay it,” says Mourinho.
“For Nemanja Matic, we had sixty or seventy million pounds, down count. Neymar has everything turned upside thrown. If Pogba still the most expensive footballer in the world had been, then sat Coutinho now do in Barcelona for 100 million pounds.”
