Mourinho continues to maintain trust in passed Rooney

José Mourinho gave birth Saturday to look through in the Premier League match with Leicester City the frequently criticized Wayne Rooney from the bench to start. He refused to accept the 30-year-old hand, however, to write off.

United was halfway already to a 4-0 lead through goals from Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba, who made his first Premier League goal. Mourinho had in the second half on more hits hoped, but saw only Leicester-substitute Demarai Gray on the beautiful score.

“Nobody expected that in the second half four more times would have scored and 8-0 would win. It was mainly to control. But Claudio Ranieri (manager of Leicester, ed.) they did it very well. Mourinho found his team for the first time this season well to start the match. “Usually our second half better than the first. We had intensity, movement and dynamics, and played very strong against a team that are easy to analyze, but difficult to beat.”

The Portuguese coach praised also the activities of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “He scored, but played phenomenal, really fantastic. He had a key role in our attacks and the pressure.”
