Motorcrosser Jeffrey Herlings has Saturday on his debut in the MXGP in the second round of a better side show. The triple world champion in the MX2 class in Qatar eleventh after a disappointing eighteenth place in the first round.
His team-mate Glenn Coldenhoff was two times faster; he was eighth in the second race and fifteenth in the first.
Where Herlings in the first moto well started, and then come down, saw his second round look very different. The 22-year-old Dutchman was already quite fast on the fourteenth place, and crept then a number of places to the front. Coldenhoff, collapsed during the race from the sixth place to the back.
Herlings came two weeks ago, fell and broke a metacarpal. He rode, therefore, with a brace on his hand in Qatar.
Antonio Cairoli won the first race at the circuit of Losail. The Italian continued the Belgian, Clement Desalle and the Slovenian Tim Gajser. In the second round won Cairoli again, now for Gajser and the Frenchman Romain Febvre.
In the CHAMPIONSHIP mode, Cairoli also the first leader with fifty points. Coldenhoff with nineteen points ninth and Herlings is the number fifteen with thirteen points.
