BELFAST, Maine – A Maine woman who told jurors she drank several shots of alcohol and smoked marijuana the night of her son’s death is due to be sentenced this week.
Thirty-two-year-old Miranda Hopkins will appear in court on Wednesday in Belfast.
The Troy resident says that they do not know how they are 7 weeks old Jaxson died in January, but she previously told the police that one of her two autistic sons may be responsible.
Police say Hopkins was drinking whiskey and told the researchers they “blacked out.” She said that she woke up to find her baby cold and “beat to hell”. The baby’s cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries to the head.
