Mother: child welfare officials were OK with cage for toddler

In POTTSVILLE, Pennsylvania. – Pennsylvania mother whose 22-month-old son was held in a cage by the father of the child, says the local child welfare officials had seen the case and “had no problem with it.”

Tiffany George speaks out after police arrested 38-year-old Cecil Eugene Kutz on child endangerment charges.

State police said Kutz locked his toddler son in a makeshift wooden cage, and left him home alone with his two younger brothers, including one born hours earlier.

George, who gave birth at home Tuesday, told The Associated Press the man-made pen was designed for the older child is safe.

Child welfare officials are declining comment on George’s claim that they had no problems with the enclosure.

George says that she is angry Kutz their children alone, while she was admitted to the hospital after suffering complications during childbirth.
