DAYTON, Ohio – A woman who police say told them that she shot her two children to save them from the world, evil is charged with aggravated murder.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says a grand jury on Tuesday indicted Claudena Helton on two aggravated murder counts in the death of her 8-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son.
The police said in court documents that the 30-year-old Dayton woman “made for admission to the shooting of the children to save them from the evil of the world.”
A message left Tuesday for Braga’s lawyer was not immediately returned.
The police says emergency responders found the children after Helton shot them in the head in their house and brought them to the front yard. She died three days later.
Heck says Helton could be the death penalty if convicted.
