Morocco pulls ambassador immediately back from the Netherlands
Morocco has Saturday its ambassador in Den Haag recalled. The Moroccan news agency MAP says that the government in Rabat has decided, because The Hague would not cooperate with the request for a drug to be delivered.
It would go to the old parliamentarian Said Chaou.
According to Rabat, there is the past two days been contact between the Moroccan and the Dutch authorities at the level of heads of government and ministers of Foreign Affairs about the delivery of the drugscrimineel of Moroccan origin.
Against Chaou two international arrest warrants issued. The defendant would be a member of a criminal organisation since 2010 and active in the international drug trade. According to Morocco, the suspect is also involved in the financing of demonstrators in the Rif region in the north of the North-African country.
For months protesting inhabitants of Northern Morocco for social justice and against corruption. The area is poor and feels neglected by the central government. At which protests are now hundreds of people arrested.
Outside of Morocco will also be demonstrations held to draw attention to the situation in the Reef area. So Saturday in Utrecht about five hundred Dutch people of Moroccan descent the street merged.
