Moroccan protester dies of injuries
A 22-year old Moroccan has died of injuries which he suffered at the demonstrations in the north of his country.
Imad El Attabi from the city of al-Hoceima died Tuesday in the hospital, confirm the authorities and a lawyer. He is known as the first protester who comes to life since the beginning of the protests in October.
Attabi ran in July serious head injury when protesters clashed with the police. The authorities claim that the man in his twenties was hit by stones. A lawyer, who works closely with the family of the victim, stated that it is more likely that Attabi has been hit by a traangasgranaat. He was then in a coma.
The tension in the Moroccan Rifgebied has been running since October. Then came a fishmonger killed when he seized merchandise from a garbage truck wanted to save. That led to violent protests. Inhabitants of the region feel neglected by the central government.
