Moroccan police takes twenty demonstrators after riots

After a violent confrontation between protesters and the police in the Moroccan city of Al-Hoceima in the Rifgebied in two days, twenty people were arrested.

That the Moroccan authorities on Saturday announced.

The unrest started Friday night after the police was looking for the activist Nasser Zefzafi, that the Friday prayers in the local mosque had been disrupted. He is the leader of a protest movement against the corruption of the state and the oppression of the population returns.

Zefzafi could flee the city with the help of supporters, who clashed were with the police. Three policemen and several demonstrators ended up in the hospital. The arrested demonstrators were, according to the public prosecutor’s office a “threat to national security”.

Restless

Since October last year, it is restless in the northern city of Al-Hoceima. That month died the fishmonger, Mouhcine Fikri. The fish was seized and the truck rolled because that’s outside of the season would have been caught.
