Moonlight-actor plays the lead role in the third season of True Detective
Mahershala Ali, best known for his starring role in Moonlight, is confirmed as the lead actor in the third season of the HBO series True Detective.
That reported Casey Bloys, boss of the American television station, Wednesday (local time) during the zomerpresentatie of HBO.
The makers of True Detective are still looking for a director, before the new season officially announced. “I have five scripts to read, I’m under the impression,” said Bloys. “We are in talks with different directors, and when we have found who we want, will the third season of True Detective final continue.”
The first season of True Detective with, among others, actor Matthew McConaughey, got rave reviews and the series won five Emmy Awards and was nominated for four Golden Globes. The second season with, among others, Colin Farrell in the lead role fell according to the criticisms against.
Ali (43) won an Oscar for his supporting role in Moonlight. This film also received the Oscar for best film.
