Luka Modric has his team-mate with Croatia called up to quickly again. The losing world cup finalist went Sunday in the qualifier for the european CHAMPIONSHIPS with a 2-1 back in Hungary.
“This contest does not fit with our reputation,” says Modric in the Croatian sports Sportske Novosti. “This we had not expected, but it is high time that we wake up.”
Croatia started the european CHAMPIONSHIP qualifying Thursday with a tough 2-1-thuiszege on the modest Azerbaijan. The winning hit by Andrej Kramaric fell until ten minutes before time.
Sunday in Budapest, the Croats arrived early with 0-1, but Hungary pulled out the victory earned.
“The match against Azerbaijan was already a warning, and the defeat against Hungary is really a blow for us,” the World player of the Year. “If we continue, then we have a big problem.”
“In football you have no time to enjoy it. There is always a new match and each opponent wants, it is difficult to make.”

Dalic frustrated by still in strong position out of play
According to coach Zlatko Dalic are the opponents of Croatia after the world cup in Russia last summer extra motivated. “I have already said that this qualification is going to be difficult. The opponents will be well-organised and very keen of us winning.”
“We once again have a tegendoelpunt from a play, that starts now tradition to be”, frustrated the coach. “But Hungary, too, was just more aggressive than us and always had the initiative.”
In the qualifying group, Croatia are four countries on three points. The runner up at the worlds in June against Wales.
“We will not long mourn this defeat happened and we should continue,” said Dalic. “It is a given that every opponent now with 200 percent commitment plays against us and there we will have to go.”
