‘Modern Family’ actress Sarah Hyland reveals she was admitted to the hospital on June 18, though she had no further details.
“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland shocked fans with a close-up photo of her swollen face on Thursday, revealing she was admitted to the hospital earlier in the week.
Wearing what looked like a hospital gown, Hyland, 27, told fans in an Instagram story Thursday that needed to immediately stop work and consult a doctor as a result of unexpected problems, they do not make public.
“Sometimes a selfie is more than just a good angle or feelin cute. This time for #NationalSelfieDay, I decided to make my truth. As painful as it is,” the actress captioned a photo of her swollen face, Us Weekly reports. “So here is my face, which was torn from the work against my will. But I am very grateful. Health always come first.”

The unknown health scare happened on Monday, Hyland said, adding that her dog could tell was they have problems.

“She was literally telling me to get treatment,” Hyland added.
Hyland has been upfront about her health struggles over the years.
As a child, the actress suffered from kidney dysplasia, “a condition in which the internal structures of one or both of a fetus’ kidneys do not develop normally, while in the womb,” according to the National Institute of Diabetes and digestive and Kidney diseases. In 2012, she received a kidney transplant, and is on medication.
In December, the star in the public criticism on her local CVS pharmacy for not correctly updating the status of her recipe, which resulted in her not getting her medication.

“Hey @cvspharmacy if you have a kidney transplant recipient, that her medication ready before you close and that you will notify her when it is ready to be picked up. F-ING DO IT BEFORE YOU CLOSE IT. PEOPLE LIKE me can’T AFFORD TO GO WITHOUT MEDICATION,” she asked in a tweet.
If not checked, the star said that her new kidney would be at risk of going on the rejection, which would force her on dialysis and start her search for a new kidney.
A source told Us Weekly, Hyland was the filming of The Wedding Years” when she started feeling sick.
Fans sent Hyland messages of support on Thursday, telling the stars to stay strong.
“I know what I feels like to be in and out of hospitals so often, and constantly Ill over several years. I hope for you that you feel better soon. With much love, a Twitter user wrote.
“I am sorry you are ill and can’t work! Hope you have a great team of doctors and back to fighting shape soon!” another added.
“Pray you find healing and relief,” a fan wrote.
