Mobile provider Youfone start online television service
The Dutch sim-only provider Youfone start on Monday with a new online tv service.
That has the provider in a press release announced. At the time of writing is the site of the service is still offline.
The subscriptions of YoufoneTV focus according to the provider, especially on online tv-viewers. Programs can be viewed with apps for smartphones and tablets. Later this year, should be a app for smart tvs to be released.
The company also says a tv receiver, to provide for the subscription, which customers decide on a tv to connect. Youfone-CEO Valentijn Rensing, however, in a press release that tv-receivers “in about three years passé”. The emphasis seems to be on the online apps for the service.
With the online subscriptions competes Youfone with parties like KPN Play and Knippr of T-Mobile, which is also online access to tv channels.
A subscription to Youfone TV costs at least 10 euros per month. For that amount, customers get access to 23 HD channels. An all-in-one subscription with more channels cost 20 euros per month.
