U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin joins Chris Wallace for an exclusive interview on ‘Fox News Sunday.’
Minister of Finance, Steve Mnuchin clarified some confusion in the coming-out of President Trump’s recent statements about his approach to China, stating that the President “determined as never before to this Problem.”
Mnuchin said in France together with the trombone for the G-7 summit, “Fox News Sunday” that “free, fair and reciprocal trade with China is an important goal of the President, and he will do what he must to achieve this. “The statement of the Chinese responses to the questions, the President said, with all of its possibilities,” Mnuchin.
This comes days after the U.S. and China beat each other with tariffs, including China ‘ s Friday announcement of the plan to $ 75 billion in American goods. President Trump hit back with additional fees.

Mnuchin responded to questions about some of the President Trump’s recent comments about China, including a tweet that painted, Chinese President Xi Jinping and us Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell as enemies.

In terms of Xi, Mnuchin explains that Trumpf and the Chinese leader are friends, but “if it’s financial problems in the trade, we have become enemies.” For Trumpf, the implication is that Powell is an enemy, Mnuchin said, that should not be taken seriously.
“I don’t think it was a literal comment, he said an enemy”. Similarly, Mnuchin said that, when Trump called himself the “chosen one” that was “tongue in cheek.”
