Missy Elliott’s first female hip hop artist in the Songwriter Hall of Fame

Missy Elliott gets a spot in the Songwriter Hall of Fame. She is the first female hip hop artist that this honour falls.

The 47-year-old Elliott, who is actually Melissa Arnette Elliot is called, is also only the third rapper that the major award will receive.

On Twitter let Elliot know that they were honoured to feel by the nomination. Also congratulates the other nominees, among others, Dallas Austin, Tom T. Hall, John Prine, Jack Tempchin, and Yusuf Islam (better known as Cat Stevens).

Missy Elliott is known from songs like Work It, Get Ur Freak On and The Rain.

“I want to be with more women working together’

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has set itself the goal of the work of influential composers and writers to preserve. One of the presidents of the commission is Nile Rodgers, founder of the band Chic.

Rodgers late in conversation with CBS This Morning to know that he is very happy with the election of Elliot: “It is important that we have equality between men and women stress. I’ve been with a lot of female liedschrijvers cooperation, but that there should be more. That is my aim.”
