Mississippi Walmart shooting suspect after gunfire erupts in the store, police say

At least two people were killed and the suspected gunman, after a shooting at a north Mississippi Walmart on Monday, officials said.

The incident unfolded on Monday morning, the shop is located in Southhaven, a town about 14 miles south of Memphis, Tenn., according to WHBQ.

DeSoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco told the news station that at least two people are dead and a suspect was shot dead, but of the condition, but it is not immediately clear.

One person was found dead at the Walmart Supercenter, and one person was found dead in the parking lot, the sheriff said.

A police officer was injured in the shooting, but was protected by a bullet-proof vest, the news outlet reported. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is expected to be ok.

The Walmart Supercenter, located in a shopping mall, it was surrounded by a massive law enforcement response when officers set up a perimeter around the store.
