COMMERCE, Texas – An East Texas police is on leave pending the investigation, after he was accused of the illegal arrest of Miss Black Texas 2016.
Carmen Thought tells KXAS-TV that Commerce police chief Kerry Crews had her Saturday was arrested after a confrontation which led him to the lead of a racist and sexist slur to her.
Think said they passed a truck and pulled into a Wal-Mart parking lot. The truck pulled alongside her and the passenger, which it considers to be Crew, said that he was, he learned his 14-year-old daughter to drive. He called to Think for the pass from him, called her a ” black b—-” when she told him that it was illegal.
Her lawyer, Lee Merritt, ” she said in the store and when she came out, a number of people in plain clothes, confronted her and demanded that she apologize to the chief. When she refused, she was arrested for evading arrest, handcuffed and jailed for 24 hours.
Crew declined to comment on the advice of his lawyer.
