A top newspaper in the U.S. state of Minnesota, on Tuesday joined the legal effort to unseal the divorce records of Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., who was the focus of an investigation, the allegations of physical abuse leveled by a former girlfriend.

Karen Monahan said Ellison once you dragged out of bed by your feet while screaming obscenities. You have the right to video footage of the 2016 incident, but refused to publish it, saying it is embarrassing. She also reportedly told CNN that it is wrong.

The Star Tribune of Minneapolis, a right-leaning online news site, Alpha News, in the push to unseal the records. The paper pointed out that in most cases, a divorce in the state are considered public information, unless both sides agree to close it. The paper claims that it is a matter of public interest.

Kim Ellison, his ex-wife, will be dismissed against the papers, and said he was never abusive to her. To stop the two file paperwork, the effort, the report said.

Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-labor y Chairman Ken Martin said he believes the investigation is completed and a final report should be created in the coming days. An outside investigator was allegedly set to carry out the probe.

Ellison, the longtime Minnesota Congressman and Democratic National Committee Vice-Chairman, called the accusations false and trying to ride out the storm of questions after winning the Aug. 14 primary for Minnesota attorney general. But the old sexual assault allegations that have thrown Brett Kavanaugh ‘ s Supreme Court nomination of doubt, have renewed the focus on Ellison.

In Minnesota and Washington, the Republicans called Democrats hypocrites for stalling the nomination Kavanaugh in the Senate, while failing to address Ellison’s situation.

Last week, Monahan said, that many Democrats have believed that their claims and said she was isolated by her own party.

“This is not the way and it makes it worse for you, your family and neighborhood by lying, smearing, always do the other your dirty work, victim shaming, etc.,” she tweeted on Sunday.
