Middlesbrough breaks after more than three years with manager Karanka

Middlesbrough and Aitor Karanka have Thursday “in concert” decided not to proceed. The promoted club is busy currently in nineteenth place in the Premier League.
The Spaniard was in november 2013 appointed as manager of ‘Boro’, which then came out in the Championship. His assistant Steve Agnew takes over with immediate effect the duties of Karanka at the employer of Marten de Roon.
Last season ended Karanka with Middlesbrough as the second on the second English the minor leagues, making the winner of the League Cup of 2004 after seven years of absence, again returned to the Premier League.
“The club wants to Aitor thank you for his hard work in the past three and a half years and for all the successes in that period,” writes the club in a statement on the website. “We wish him every success for the future.”
Karanka was in 2013 without experience as a head coach has been appointed as hotel manager at the Riverside Stadium. The 43-year-old Spaniard had previously only experience in Spain under-16, and as an assistant to José Mourinho at Real Madrid.
“I want Middlesbrough to thank for this wonderful opportunity” said Karanka on his departure. “And I also want everyone I’ve worked with to thank, just as the fans for their support. This club will always have a special place in my heart.”

Under the direction of the old-defender knew Middlesbrough a great start to the season, but in the meantime, the second-to-last in the Premier League. Last weekend was followed also elimination in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
