Microsoft doubles profit thanks to growth in cloud services
Microsoft achieved in the second quarter of this year, mer than twice as much profit as a year ago, driven by the good performance of its cloud services.
In the second quarter of this year, Microsoft a profit of 6.5 billion dollar (5,59 billion dollars), the company informs in its quarterly results.
More than a doubling of the profit of 3.1 billion dollars in the same three months last year were listed. Revenue fell to 23.3 billion dollars (20 billion euros), 13 percent higher than a year ago.
“Innovation of our cloudplatforms have the strong results this quarter driven,” says Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. The company saw a growth in sales of its cloud services.

The branch Intelligent Cloud, where cloud-based Azure belongs to, recorded a turnover of 7.4 billion, a growth of 11 percent compared to last year. By more in to the cloud, Microsoft hopes the falling income due to a shrinking market for pc’s to catch.
Microsoft reports in its numbers that there are 27 million consumers to have a subscription to Office 365. The 2016 acquired business social network LinkedIn made a profit of $ 1.1 billion.
Also, a tax benefit provided a higher profit than stock market analysts had expected. For the upcoming reorganization in which thousands of workers are being dismissed, Microsoft has 306 million dollars put aside.
