Men charged with the taking of sea turtle eggs from Florida beach

PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida. – Two Florida men who say that the researchers said were found with the 500 sea turtle eggs are arrested.

Treasure Coast Newspapers are reporting that Raymond Saunders and Carl Cobb, both 50, were charged Wednesday with possession of more than 11 marine turtle species eggs/and illegal to take or disturb any marine turtle species nest.

Florida wildlife officials noticed that the men just north of Blind Creek Beach in St. Lucie County. Wildlife commission spokeswoman Carol Lyn Parrish, says biologists and people who monitor the nests had noticed the possible illegal activities of the past few weeks.

Parrish says that there is a market for the eggs, noting in some cultures they are considered an aphrodisiac.

The recovered eggs are thought to be loggerhead turtle eggs.

It is not clear whether the two lawyers.
