Meghan McCain felt an incredible sense of relief after the news that she had a miscarriage.
“The View” co-host expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support she received after her op-ed piece on the heart-rending experience.
On Sunday, McCain, 35, captioned a picture of a man, Ben Domenech, Thank you for the many wonderful and kind comments in my New York Times @nytimes op-ed piece about my recent miscarriage. Ben and I will be the happiest, the happiest, the most of the incredibly blessed people in the world, surrounded by love and support. I hope by continuing to share the sorrow, grief, and loss, and dealing with taboo subjects head-on with the help of the people who have experienced it, to feel less alone. None of us are alone. I was petrified to share my story in public, but I’ve never been, don’t fear to dictate my choices in life. I will always do the jump, you will also have to roll the dice.”

She added: “And this man, who will love my wild heart, has never tried to change a single thing about it to me, and it continues to be the single most important source of power, of love and of the faith of a woman could ever ask for ~ I want to thank God for sending you to me each and every day, I Am. #rideordie.”
In her essay, McCain has admitted that she was pregnant ” a few months ago,” and learned she had suffered a miscarriage the same day as the cover photo shoot for the New York Times Magazine.

“I look back at those pictures now, and I can’t see a woman hiding her shock and grief. I posed in front of the camera, looking stern and strong, and it is on behalf of my fellow conservative women in the country as a whole. But on the inside I’m dying. Inside, my baby’s dying,” she wrote.
At first, McCain wants to keep the tragedy private, but then decided to share it in order to help eliminate the stigma associated with abortions.

“I missed a couple of days. It wasn’t much, but considering the job that I have, it was enough to spark the rumors as to why I would be gone from ‘The View.’ It wasn’t supposed to be public knowledge. I’ve had my fair share of public grief and public rejoicing. I want to be in this grief-the grief of a little bit of to life, began, and then lost it — can it remain private,” she said.
“I don’t have to hide. My miscarriage was a horrible experience and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”

“Abortion is such a pain to be often misunderstood. However, it is true, and what we have lost is the real thing. We have to feel our sadness, and we cry because our babies were real,” she wrote. “We have to earn the ability to speak openly of them, to share and to grieve. More importantly, they deserve to be spoken to, shared with, and, to his lasting regret. These people, shockingly small, shockingly instant, the whole of the work of love and humanity, his children. We, who are in mourning of their mothers.”
