A royal expert blasted Meghan Markle for allegedly trying to get a “international star,” even though everyone who married into the British royal family would inevitably have intended for at least some time in the spotlight.
“I think that what Meghan has to realize is that they are not in the life of the royal family as an A-list Hollywood stars, and that within the monarchy, it requires a very different set of behaviors,” Anna Pasternak, author of “The Real Wallis Simpson,” sniped at “The Royal Box.”
“She doesn’t understand that she can’t be this international star in this world, that is the Queen, then Charles, then William and Kate — they have the stars that’ s what ensures the continuity of the monarchy,” Pasternak continued.

“The house of Windsor has done incredibly well to remain together, as many other European royal houses have collapsed and they’ve done it because they recognize who has been at the main event,” the author said. “She seems to want to bring her own style in the monarchy and I don’t think that’s necessary and I don’t think it will work in the long term.”
Pasternak has not indicated how, exactly, the 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex was ruffling royal feathers.

“I thought it was in very bad taste actually, when the country was in a state of extreme fear and flux, and many people are suffering financially, I think you can’t have it both ways,” Pasternak griped. “I don’t think you can on the one hand, people say, ‘save the planet, save the plastic, and then cruising to a huge ecological footprint, go for a lavish baby shower in New York. Pasternak also claimed to believe that there is a gap between Markle and Kate Middleton, and Princes Harry and William.
“I think they are without a doubt true. William is very responsible, he knows what his role is and Kate has come alongside and performed that very well,” she said. “I think it’s very hard to have had Meghan, who seems to want to modernise and her own calendar, and you can’t have everything. You can have your freedom and this right, so it is a Faustian pact. It is not a fairy tale, and [Markle must] recognize and live with the consequences.”
