Media of the moment of truth: Who is the Gatekeeper in the Trump era?

If it is over the door of the moment—a CNN correspondent, again and again, the President-elect, Buzzfeed irresponsible cuts both publishing unsubstantiated rumors in the news business, in front of a moment of truth.

Can the people trust the media, a number of basic facts?

The judgment, in the court of public opinion, increasingly seem to be. And this is the essential question of whether the same journalists, the botched election coverage Donald Trump.

The word “Gatekeeper” gets a bad rap these days. There was a time when the major national Newspapers, magazines and networks controlled pretty much the news agenda. It is a healthy thing to have broken the web and social media, the monopoly, although the online environment can often turn toxic.

But if the mainstream media are not widely viewed as biased and untrustworthy, you can play to establish the gatekeeper role or is it also a validation of the role of the basic facts. Everything is just noise.

That is why the non-verified dossier Trump, posted by Buzzfeed, and even the web page raised serious doubts as to your credibility as a symbolic turning point. The MSM core conceit is, whatever their shortcomings or errors, you are trying to get the best obtainable version of the truth. That was a thumb in the eye to this concept. In fairness, several other news agencies, including the New York Times, Washington Post, and Fox had the material and decided not to publish the report, substantiated allegations, and CNN, the salacious details).

I have long held politicians to quote selectively media accounts when it suits your purpose. A conservative will say: “Even the New York Times says…” The liberals will say, “Even Fox News reported…”, But one hears less of that now that a lot of people in terms of the entire facility as part of the “corrupt media”.

This is not only the indictment of trump supporters. Hillary Clinton, the former assistant have made it clear in recent weeks that the costs her the election, because they are too soft Trump and inflate their E-Mail scandal.

But it is the right thing to do, which has led to., the drive to undermine the trust in the media, with much help from the media itself And the idea of being decimated by the press as a neutral referee. Media fact-checkers were also dismissed as biased.

Also, the conservative media is not spared. Trump fought openly with the National Review, the Weekly Standard, and, at times, Fox News, and all of them had commentators, denigrated him, while favoring newer voices in talk radio and websites like Breitbart.

But with the mistrust of the media on record level, the game is increasingly being played, without calling a referee balls and strikes.

Unfortunately, the consequences for the country, and not only those of us who work under the tattered banner of journalism.
